The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History proudly presents: Crazy for YOU: a Tribute to Ann Wiatt at the Miramont Country Club on Thursday, January 14, 2016. The evening will begin with cocktails at 6pm followed by dinner at 7pm. It is a wonderful opportunity to thank Ann for all of the outstanding support she has given to our arts community over the years. It will be an evening filled with great food, humorous and entertaining stories, music, and fun. Please note the dress code for this event is cocktail attire, and jackets are required for men.

The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History proudly announces the raffle of a beautiful David Yurman bracelet & ring during Crazy for YOU: a Tribute to Ann Wiatt. The bracelet is sterling silver and features pave diamonds and pearls. This stunning set, priced at $3,650, was generously donated by David Gardner’s Jewelry. Raffle tickets are $25 a piece or 5 for $100; and can be purchased at the Museum, from Board Trustees, or at the Crazy for YOU tribute. Ticket holders do not have to be present to win.


About Ann Wiatt

Ann WiattAnn Cobb Wiatt has made community service in the Brazos Valley a high priority for 57 years. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, she received her early education there, followed by attendance at Florence State Teachers College and George Washington University. She was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Washington, D.C. where she met her future husband, Special Agent, Bob Wiatt. Married in 1953, they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary shortly before his death in 2010. Ann is the mother of two sons, Scot (deceased) and Jeffrey of The Woodlands. She is a devoted mother-in-law to Jennifer and proud grandmother of Josh, Jordan, and Jillian.

Since her arrival in Bryan/College Station in 1958, Ann has assisted more than 32 organizations. A few of the organizations that she has served as either a founder, co-founder, officer or board member include: Junior League of Bryan/College Station; Literacy Volunteers of America; Woman’s Club of Bryan, Arts Council of Brazos Valley (ACVB); MSC Opera and Performing Arts Society (OPAS) at Texas A&M University; OPAS Guild (now Encore); Brazos Valley Symphony Society (BVSS); Friends of the Symphony; Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center; St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary; Brazos County United Way; Girls Club of Brazos County; American Cancer Society; March of Dimes; Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley; Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae Club; and the Salvation Army’s Clothes Closet.

She served the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum as a docent for 12 years and the Texas A&M Center for Teaching Excellence for several years. A long term board member at a local bank, Ann also devoted countless hours to teaching etiquette classes.

She remains an active member of many organizations, and has assisted the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History in recent years.

Her outstanding dedication to the B/CS community has been recognized by numerous awards: The Jefferson Award; Most Outstanding Woman in Brazos County (1990); Woman of Distinction by Girl Scouts Council of America (1992); Women who make a Difference by the Prenatal Clinic; Sustainer of the Year by the Junior League of Bryan/College Station; and awards from the Daughters of the American Revolution; American Diabetes Association, and Brazos Community Foundation.

Widely known for her role in creating OPAS and her contributions to local arts organizations, Ann has also received numerous awards from ACBV, BVSS, and OPAS. In her honor, OPAS has named its main stage productions venue, the Ann Cobb Wiatt Main Stage. Earlier this fall, 2015, she also received the Arts Council Volunteer of the Year award.

The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History is open to visitors Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm. Regular admission fees: adults $5; seniors/students/children $4; children 3 and under are free.
