3rd Annual Wish Upon a Butterfly

Wish Upon a ButterflyRemember the day your father taught you how to ride a bike? Remember Anna, the neighbor who always asked for sugar? Tim, the cousin who did not come back from war? All these events and special people in your life deserve a moment of honor.

This July 26, join us in honoring your loved ones—those who are here, and those who are gone. Starting at 9 am, check in with a delicious reception, and at 10 am, beautiful butterflies will take the skies, carrying the messages you would like your loved ones to hear or the wishes in your heart.

The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History invites you to join our annual live butterfly release on Saturday, July 26th from 9-11 am. Butterflies will be pre-sold for $20 each prior to the event, please call the Museum to reserve your butterfly by credit card, or you may send a check to the Museum: Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History, Butterfly Release, 3232 Briarcrest Drive, Bryan, Texas 77802. All proceeds benefit the Museum and support free admission to the Museum for active duty enlisted personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Come to the Museum at 9 am to check in, enjoy refreshments, and take this opportunity to view our Observation Bee Hive and butterfly display in the Museum’s Discovery Room. You are invited to write your loved ones names, or your wish or message on a paper butterfly for display during the event, and to take home as a keepsake. A few minutes before 10 am, live butterflies will be passed out to participants and released on the front lawn of the Museum. The Texas A&M Garden Club will also be on hand to pass out seeds and talk about butterfly gardening. The Master Naturalists will also have a booth to help you learn even more about butterflies. There will be fun activities for the kids, making this a family event you don’t want to miss!

Butterfly Release ParticipantWe will sell butterflies on the day, if any are still available. But butterflies are limited, so don’t delay! Don’t miss a chance to support the only natural history museum in a 100 mile radius, and to make a special wish or to honor a loved one as you release your butterfly.

Support and celebrate the beautiful natural world of the Brazos Valley with us on July 26th. The guest who purchases the most butterflies will also receive the opportunity to have a name of their choice engraved on a permanent plaque at the Museum.
